By the Deep Blue Sea
Written by Giselle Greenberg copyright 2018
Once there was a family
With Mama, Papa, Benny, Pearl, and me
Life went on quite happily
‘Til one day Mama had to leave
“My dear children, please don’t fret,
And make sure you don’t forget
that someday we shall meet again
When skies are clear, I’ll see you then
It won’t be long, just wait for me
By the deep blue sea”
Without Mama there to sing
The word “home” lost its joyful ring
Papa soon grew sad and glum
He felt the need to search for Mum
He told us that he’d be back soon,
and left us with that weary tune,
“It won’t be long, just wait for me
By the deep blue sea”
Then dear Benny thought he knew
Where Mama and Papa flew
I would stay in case they came back soon
So Benny left and took Pearl too, he said
“It won’t be long, just wait for me
By the deep blue sea”
Now it won’t be long, they’ll come for me
By the deep blue sea
